Training Runs

Please feel free to join us on any of the runs listed below. There is no charge and we welcome runners from all over the country and the world to come and enjoy running in our beautiful city and surrounds. There are various Whatsapp contact groups created by members with common schedules, training paces and goals. Please note that while these are the regular runs thinks may change due to weather, training schedules and the various races.

Hamiltons Rugby Club Stephan Way, Green Point

This is our most popular club run and is an easy, recovery run along the promenade. It starts and finishes at Hamilton's and heads out at 6pm along Stephen Way and into Fitz Sonnenberg towards the promenade. It takes runners along this beautiful stretch along the sea, past the Mouille Point Lighthouse and through to Sea Point. The turnaround is at Bantry Bay and from there runners head back to Hamiltons on the same route.

Sea Point Pavilion Lower Beach Road, Sea Point

A scenic run from the Pavilion out along the promenade, through Bantry Bay, Clifton and through to Camps Bay for a drink of water just opposite The Grand to regroup. From here the route takes runners over Kloof Road past Camps Bay High School back to the Pavilion.

Sea Point Pavilion Lower Beach rd.

Known as the Punisher. Starting at the pavilion the route takes us along the promenade towards the waterfront thereafter we head up onto the hills of Green point up cavalcade and Ben Nevis, finishing on a speedy downhill back to the Pavilion. Challenging morning work-out.

A magnificent route on the lower slopes of Table Mountain with stunning views of the mountain and city. Runners can join at the Lower Cableway station for 10km at 6pm.

Opposite Vida e Caffé Camps Bay

This run offers a choice of any distance from 10km (turn at the 12 Apostles Hotel at Oudekraal) to 30km (through to the bottom of Chapman's Peak Drive) and there are various groups of different abilities. The run is usually followed by a swim (weather permitting) and a coffee and catch up at Vida. All welcome.

UCT Newlands

Meet at the UCT Car Park just next to the lower rugby fields. This 20km run follows some trails through Kirstenbosch, as well as some of the roads through Newlands and Constantia. It caters for all abilities but you need to be able to run 20 kilometers, as there are no short cuts or a shorter version. If you are coming from town - the the first UCT off ramp and drive up to UCT campus, past the sports centre and rugby fields on your left. The road climbs to a stop street and it is the parking area on the left hand side before this stop street and the bus stop. If you are coming from the Southern Suburbs, take the first UCT turn off (where Two Oceans finishes) and continue left in a sharp hairpin bend towards the stop street. It is the parking area on your left hand side before this stop street and bus stop.

Green Point Urban Park

Park Run. An informal, social, fun, measured and timed 5km jog, stroll, race or pace along the famous fan walk, around Green Point Common and through the beautiful Urban Park. Many treat this as a Time Trial or tempo run. Register on www.parkrun.co.za for your result to be recorded. It’s run completely by volunteers and it’s free. Open to all, whether club runners or not. Typically around 25 AAC members are in the starting line up of around 900.
