Beginner Group (aka The Penguins)

Our Beginner Group, aka the Penguins, runs twice a week and we have a new contact person who will be running the Penguins Group. Radesh Moodley will be at the following runs to assist all the beginners:

  • On Mondays meet on Tafelberg Road just down from the Cable Car to start running at 6pm (5:30pm in winter).
  • On Tuesdays meet at 5:45pm in Sea Point at the car park next to the Ice Cream Hut and the Sea Point swimming pool.
  • On Thursdays meet at 6pm in summer (5:45pm in winter) from the club house at Oceana Power Boat Club in Granger Bay. If you come along Beach Road from Sea Point towards the Waterfront, you turn left down a steep hill just before the main entrance to the Waterfront in front of the Somerset Hospital. It is just after the Marina development.

There are a number of other runs which take place during the week which, if these don’t suit you, you can join, depending on your fitness level!

The idea is to start out at a very comfortable level and have different packs running at different paces so that everyone can be accommodated – no matter your fitness level or speed at which you like to run. At the moment we are running 6km’s per session and we intend to split the group up into fast (about 6:15 minutes per km), medium (about 6:30 minutes per km) and slow runners (about 7 minutes per km).
