Tiz the season to be jolly…

Dear AAC members

Less than a week until Christmas but not yet time to put your feet up. With the party season in full swing, it’s often tough to fit your training runs in and far easier to just let things slide. But try not to let all your hard work so far go to waste. If you are limited for time, try making an early start and get some of your training runs done in the morning. That way you can get your run out of the way, allowing you to concentrate on guilt-free festivity preparations and partying.

If you are looking for a last minute Christmas gift, Braam Malherbe left some copies of his book “The Great Run” with me after our AGM on Monday night. The book is R170 and makes an ideal gift for runners. Send me an email if you need a copy and I’ll send you the account details for an eft.

What’s on for the rest of December.

Wed 22nd Dec New Balance Sundowner 10km 18h30 from the V&A Waterfront (Jetty 1, East Pier). Entry fee R25. Information and online entries at http://www.topevents.co.za www.topevents.co.za or enter on the day.

Sun 26th Dec Tokai Manor House 16km 07h00 Tokai Forest. Those that have over indulged will know it as “The Christmas Pudding Run”.

Mon 27th Dec (Boland) I think I saw somewhere that the Betty’s Bay Half is cancelled. Call 079 413 6610 for confirmation before heading out there !!

Thurs 31st Dec (Boland) Dangerpoint Half Marathon 07h00, Main Road Gansbaai. One of the little hidden treasures on the calendar. Not easy, but a fantastic run along the sea coastline. There’s also a 10km.

Thurs 31st Dec Brooks Runners Memorial 8km Fun Run 18h00 Mouille Point. Club colours optional. New Year’s spirit compulsory.

Latest info on the licence numbers:

WPA has informed us that the licence numbers will be here in the next week. I will make a plan to get the new members their licence numbers in early January and we are in the process of finalising an online registration process for renewals and for new members for 2011. More to follow in the new year. You can still use your 2010 licence up until the Kloof Nek Classic so no immediate rush to sign up.

I will be off from Friday 24 December until Monday 3 January so no updates until the new year. Bay to Bay is on Sunday 9 January!

Whatever you are doing over the Silly Season, have fun, enjoy & be safe. I hope you find time to relax & to reconnect with family and friends. With the sleigh bells ringing & some happy people singing, I wish you & your loved ones everything of the best.

Merrily yours,

Sue
