Call for marshals – On 10th October, AAC will host the ever-popular OUTsurance Gun Run 21km, 10km and 5km fun run. We need approximately 120 marshals on the day, and we encourage all members who are not running to volunteer as marshals. Cape Town Marathon – News update from WPA: Entries for Cape Town Marathon will remain open until 13 September 2010. Thereafter, entries will only be taken at number collection, but at an increased entry fee. Entrants are strongly advised to enter timeously. See below for further details.

SATURDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER:
Medihelp Tekkie Challenge: New Balance Multisport Club will host the Tekki Challenge 10km & 5km from the Jan Kriel School (School Street) in Kuilsriver, starting at 07h00. For more details, contact Suzette Goldie on 0761075412 or suzette@jankriel.co.za.
The Kogelberg Challenge: Hangklip Athletic Club will host a staggered event in Pringle Bay consisting of three races; 21km starting at 7h30, a 10km at 10h30 and a 5km fun run at 12h00. The Challenge will be combined with the Conservancy Festival which includes a spit braai, a wine & beer tent, an indigenous plant auction and many other stalls.

Kopbeenskloof 30 km & 20 km Trail Run: Hosted by Touws River Primary School, this race starts from Wabooms Farm at 20h00. Yes, it is a night race and can be quite cold. For further enquiries, contact Bennie du Plessis on 0833241675 or bendup1@gmail.com.
Camps Bay (outside Vida): For those not heading out to do a race this weekend, then there’s the usual 7am start in Camps Bay outside Vida.
SUNDAY 12th SEPTEMBER:
Crazy Store Khayelitsha 21.1 km, 10 km & 5 km: Hosted by WPA, the race takes place from the Khayelitsha Rugby Club and starts at 07h30. Contact WPA on 021-6990615 or events@wpathletics.co.za.

Cape Town Marathon: The Cape Town Marathon will wind its way through the streets of the Mother City again this spring. The race, which is organised by Western Province Athletics, in partnership with the City of Cape Town, takes place on Sunday 26 September. The marathon, with its fast and flat course, is appealing to both elite athletes in search of quick times and beginners who want to complete their first marathon. Starting at the same time as the marathon is a 10km race, which follows the last part of the marathon route. Just over an hour later, there is a 4,2km mini-marathon for junior athletes, which also takes place on the last part of the marathon route. Enter online at http://www.wpa.org.za/ www.wpa.org.za. Comrades Marathon Road Show: The Comrades Marathon Association will be visiting areas around the country from September to October 2010. You can look forward to an informative and inspiring talk, with expert advice, lucky draw prizes and interaction with your local running heroes. AAC will be hosting a CMA Road Show on Wednesday 29 September at the Atlantic Green Point Bowling Club in Main Road, Green Point. It starts at 19h00 and various experts will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Entrance is free. OUTsurance 94.5 Kfm Gun Run! Bring the whole family along for a morning of fun and take part in the OUTsurance 94.5 Kfm Gun Run on Sunday 10 October 2010. You can walk or run the 5km or there’s a 10km walk/run and a 21km half marathon if you’re looking for more of a challenge. Entry forms are available at Sportsmans Warehouse or enter online at http://www.topevents.co.za/ www.topevents.co.za. Entries close Friday 1 October, so be sure to enter early. You can still enter the 5km fun run/walk on the morning. Come and join Ashley Hayden, Survivor SA runner up, who will be running the 10km to raise funds and create an awareness for the event’s official charity – The Homestead. Local 94.5 Kfm DJ’s, including the Breakfast Team’s Ryan O’Connor and Charmaine Noy, will also be taking part in the event. There’s also loads of entertainment for participants and spectators on the Sea Point Promenade at Rocklands Beach opposite Winchester Mansions, including a live band. Landmarks Half Marathon and 6km Fun Run & School Challenge: This takes place on Sunday 7 November (note the new date – a week earlier) from Western Province Cricket Club. The route is scenic but tough one through the Southern Suburbs and up to Rhodes Memorial.
