Dear Runner,
In 2010 the Ocean Basket Bay to Bay will have an exciting new sponsor and a new start time: 6h00!
You can enter for the race on Saturday 9 January 2010 from 10h00 – 13h00 at Sportsman’s Warehouse, Klipfontein Road, Rondebosch or on the day of the race (Sunday 10 January 2010) at from 5h00 – 5h55 at the Glen Country Club, Victoria Road, Clifton.
The 3 events, namely the 30KM race, 2 X15 Relay and the 5km Fun Run has grown every year, so runners are advised to arrange to give lifts to their fellow runners in order to limit the number of vehicles that will need to find parking.
The entry fees are as follows:
30KM Licensed runners: R50
30KM Unlicensed runners: R75 (R50 entry fee, plus R25 for a temporary licence)
2 X 15Km Relay: Licenced runners: R60 per team or R30 per runner
2 X 15Km Rellay: Unlicensed runners: R45 per runner (R30 entry fee, plus R15 for a temporary license)
5KM Fun Run: R15 ( no licenses required).
YOU WILL SPEED UP YOUR REGISTRATION IF YOU BRING THE EXACT AMOUNT FOR THE ENTRY FEE!
MEDALS to the first 1600 runners to finish the
MEDALS to the first 275 teams in the 2 X 15 Relay (2 medals per team)
FUN RUN Medals to the first 150 finishers
CUT-OFF TIME for the 30KM AND RELAY: 4 HOURS (10H00)

Just one negative – there were not enough toilets at the start. I stood in a Q for half an hour and made the start by 2 minutes and the the Q was still stretching down the road.

Thanks for the positive comments. We had arranged for the City Council to provide us with the keys to public toilets, but unfortunately the official concerned did no pass this on to the guy in charge of the toilets. We did have 8 mobile toilets at Maidens Cove as well as the toilets at Glen Country club. However, we will take your comments on board and try to do better next year.

Hi, i did not get my 30km medal as i was told there were no more, even though i finished well within the 1600 finishers mark and in a time of just over 3 hrs….can i swap the 15km relay medal i got instead? other than that disapointment, a great race! Perhaps more prizes next time, esp given the popularity of this race? Regards, Llew

Thanks for your positive comments. Yes, we were also disappointed that we couldn’t give a medal to all the finishers, but we were simply not prepared for the extra 500 runners. We are having more medals made and will send these to the clubs, along with a list of the finishers for each club. If you don’t belong to a club, please give me your contact details and we will try and get a medal to you when they arrive (in about 4 weeks time).
